I spent a few minutes with two precious friends today. I met them the first day of school when Daniel and Jack started a new year. They have become dear to me in many ways. We have worked together, helped each other, shared our days (their happinesses and troubles), laughed, cried and cursed together. I am thankful for them. It is amazing how dear people can become to you; the ties that bind you don't always seem obvious and yet, they are there. Strong, tangled, woven and wondrous.
Rebecca asked for a family day yesterday with food and games. So today after my visit I brought pizza home for lunch with my children, we watched Tangled, ate pizza, cupcakes and circus animal cookies. We drank soda and two kinds of Kool-Aid. We capped off lunch with a game of Loopz, States and Capitals Sequence and Time Bingo. My children laughed and teased and shouted and resisted any attempt at decorous behavior. It was marvelous!
What makes a beautiful day? Laughter and hugs, pizza and confidences shared, the smiles of loved ones and ridiculous crowing.
